Opuntia (Consolea) rubescens Road Kill Cactus. This is a non-toxic plant but can cause irritation if ingested due to spines. Native to the Carribbian Islands and surrounding areas. This cactus is grown on low elevations, dry climate. In winters bring inside to a sunny window. Can handle a cool winter above 50 degrees. In the summers in Missouri move outdoors for the summers to get the most growth and encourage flowering.
