Stapelia gigantea - This plant is deemed safe for animals and not poisonous, however it can cause stomach upset so chewing should not be allowed. Native to South Africa & Tanzania. *Fun Fact - The flowers are fowl smelling which attracts flies for pollination. The flowers also resemble a starfish which is another common name. Also named the Zulu Giant which derived from the KwaZulu-Natal Region which is home of the Zulu people. Flowers can get up to 16" in diameter. This plant loves the sun so a warm sunny window inside is ideal and also can be grown in full sun outside for the spring/summer, but remember to bring inside before first frost. This does trail over the pot.
